Our Pastors

Pastors Steve and Barbara Harvell

Senior Pastor and Associate Pastor

Pastor Stephen Harvell has been the senior pastor of Love of Christ Church since 1991. Before coming to Delaware, he worked for the DuPont Company along the North Carolina coast. During that time, he earned his Master of Divinity degree and later started a church, also called Love of Christ Church, in the rural town of Bolivia. In 1989, God told him to turn over the leadership of his church to a new pastor and ask DuPont for a transfer to Delaware.  After only being in Delaware a year, God then said to start Love of Christ Church here and leave the corporate world to become a full-time pastor. In November 1991, Love of Christ Church had its first gathering in a small insurance office in Wilmington with 17 people. Today this church has two physical locations in Bear and Middletown, and a thriving Church Online platform, led by Pastor Stephen and his wife Barbara.

Pastor Stephen is also the founder and overseer of Love of Christ Church India, which supports 84 pastors and 435 churches. In addition, he is a charter member of the church-planting organization, Association of Related Churches (ARC). In his free time, Stephen enjoys bow hunting, traveling with his wife and spending time with their three children and four grandchildren.

Pastor Forrust Miller

Associate Pastor

Pastor Forrust Miller joined the staff of Love Of Christ Church in 2003. He currently oversees pastoral care, our Small Groups ministry and supervises the maintenance of the church facility and grounds. Pastor Forrust and Sherry have been married  for more than 30 years and have two grown children and seven grandchildren. In addition to spending time with his family, Pastor Forrust enjoys bicycling, boating and building. His love for construction and carpentry has inspired him to build two of the homes he’s lived in.

Pastor Curtis Harper

Middletown Pastor

Pastor Curtis has been active, serving in many capacities at Love of Christ Church since 1996. Early in his career, Pastor Curtis ran a construction and remodeling business. Feeling God’s call on his life, he also attended Bible College and volunteered as a youth pastor, before coming on staff full time in July 2008. In 2014, he became an ordained minister and has been leading the Middletown Location. Pastor Curtis and his wife Alison have been married more than 20 years and have two sons, Stephen and Noah. In his free time, Pastor Curtis likes to do fix-up projects or spend time with the family.
